Self-Management and Recovery Training.
S.M.A.R.T is a programme which will train you to cope with urges and manage harmful behaviours. It’s designed for anyone who is managing dependency of any kind.
So, whether you’re managing alcohol intake, drug use or controlling the urge to self-harm or gamble, SMART can provide the support and community that you need to maintain and boost your recovery.
Being part of a community of recovery makes it more likely that you’ll succeed.
SMART doesn’t follow a series of steps and it’s non-religious. It’s built around four points which can be focused on in any order.
- Building and maintaining motivation
- Coping with urges
- Managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours
- Living a balanced life
It’s run as a weekly drop-in session, which lasts for one and a half hours and during the session you’ll be introduced to new tools and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques to help your recovery.
The sessions are led by our trained facilitator, Cathy. Her life experience means that you’ll be met with understanding and warmth when you join the group.
Meetings are held in a small group setting where you’re free to share as much or as little as you like. Each week members ‘check in’ and update the group on their week, if you don’t want to, you’re welcome to pass.
Our group is diverse but always inclusive. Whatever gender, age or background our clients are welcome.
If you spend more time with people who are succeeding at what you want to do then you’re more likely to succeed yourself!
Stay for one session, come along every week or dip in and out as you feel the need.

Enjoy good company and a freshly cooked meal on a Pay As You Feel basis as you reflect on the days learning.
Our final session of the day is Creative Hub which gives you a chance to spend quality time with each other to relax, de-stress and uncover hidden talents.
